Meet The Farmer

I spent most of my adolescent life living on a farm in Northeast Missouri. We didn’t grow flowers of course, mostly soybean and corn. I grew up watching countless hours spent in the fields, watching the crops grow and enjoying every minute of my childhood. I learned how to do most things from my parents that have carried over into adulthood. Cooking, farming (still learning), running the kids around, etc.

I didn’t appreciate the calmness that being on the farm brought me until much later in life, more notably when my high school sweetheart and I graduated college and moved 3 hours south to the Lake area.

The Lake area is where we have called home for 10 years now. We are raising two amazing children with 2 labs. My husband works for his family business while I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I work with a local magazine and tend to the flowers in season. We have had the farm for a over 6 years now, it is a great escape for us as a family.

The idea of The Flower Fields came as I had the vision to put my own mark in this world and our community. I love creating, crafting and not afraid to get my hands dirty. I wanted to grow my own product, bringing back roots from my childhood. With lots of labor and a tons more love, we started The Flower Fields and GATHER in 2019. Without the help of our family, my husband and even kids, I couldn’t keep growing the business like I hope.

The farm's cut flower business specializes in locally grown spring bulbs and companion perennials. I am inspired by the unique and challenging, and as long as the ground is not frozen, you can typically find me outside digging in the dirt or weeding the beds.
